Tips for using PowerPoint


Ten tips for using PowerPoint in the classrooms:

1. It is a great way to give a presentation that relies on images, graphs and charts, for example PowerPoint is used extensively for scientific presentations.

2.  Presents information in a clear and logical way.

3.  Slides can be printed, which allows students to take notes directly on their printouts.

4. Can be used as a guide for the teacher by highlighting major topics, which the teacher can then expand upon.

5. PowerPoint’s can be recycled and used for multiple lessons and reused every year.

6. Adds flair to a presentation through the use of visuals and animation.

7. You can use PowerPoint presentations as flashcards, which can be used by an individual student or the entire class.

8.   It is easier for students to read and take notes from a PowerPoint as compared to notes written on the board.

9.  If used correctly it can be used to teach to many learning styles.

10. PowerPoint is fairly easy to use and can be taught to students in a short amount of time. The students can then use these skills when creating their own presentations.
