This video was made to explore how technology is utilized in school. We had the opportunity to visit Liberty Elementary in Murray, UT and interview several teachers. It was great to see how a school with limited resources were able to make the most of what they have.

Tips for using Blogs:
Ten tips for blogs in the classroom
1. Its a great tool for keeping students up-to-date on deadlines and changes to the syllabus.
2. Teachers can easily communicate with parents about classroom expectations and standards.
3. Its a great place for students to compile their work, like a portfolio.
4. Its a great way to have students collaborate. If they are working on a project together they can communicate from anywhere.
5. Its a great way for students to discuss topics outside of the classroom and can give them a greater sense of freedom to express their ideas.
6. Teachers should be carefule about the content they post and aware that it is all public.
7. It is important to stress to students appropriate internet behaivor, and stress the fact that everything on the internet is public.
8. Blogs are a great way for students to publish their ideas and create an artifact they are proud of.

Tips for using Apps
Ten tips for using apps in the classroom:
1. Many secondary students have access to apps on a
Smartphone or tablet.
2. Apps are portable and can be used almost
anywhere. This means you can easily access classroom materials on the go.
3. They are great to use for field trips and could
be used as a handy notebook.
4. Students can be easily distracted when using
their phones. Teachers should be aware of this and find solutions to keep
students engaged in the learning activities.
5. There are many apps, but care should be taken
when choosing which ones to use. They are not all created equally.
6. Apps can make grading and classroom management
easy and portable.
7. It is often better to use just one tablet or Smartphone
hooked up to a projector, rather then have 40 students each using their own.
8. There are some great apps that allow teachers to
better organize their classroom and that allow them to easily create lesson
plans.
9. Teachers can reduce paper by using ereader apps.
10. Apps
are the future and to reach young students we must embrace the world they are growing
up in.

1. Video is exciting and students are often very enthusiastic about this activity.
2. Teachers should always remember to make video projects meaningful, with direct links to classroom content.
3. Is a great way to include many learning styles, such as audio, visual, logical, etc.
4. There are many programs that come preloaded on computers that allow students to easily edit their videos.
5. Is often a more interesting method of presentation, rather then a PowerPoint or simple lecture.
6. Encourage students to use this as a method for presentation, particularly if they may be nervous about public speaking.
7. Video can be a great way for students to demonstrate their understanding, particularly in such visual fields as geology.
8. Teachers can make resources for students that they can access on any computer.
9. Allows students to explore multiple ways of communicating their ideas.
10. Students love to be the stars of their own movies!

4. Look for sites that are interactive and allow students learn by doing.

6. Make sure that the sites are void of any inappropriate content.
7. Make sure that you state the purpose of your Webquest and clearly explain to students why they are doing this activity.

Webquest: Where does our water come from?
This Webquest was designed for a high school Earth Science course, which would typically include 9th and 10th graders. Students are asked to explore where their water comes and other issues that effect water systems. Both the original Webquest and the answer key are included below.

6. Adds flair to a presentation through the use of visuals and animation.
