Tips for using Webquests


Ten tips for using Webquests in your classroom:

1.     Webquests can be a great resource for days when the teacher is absent and a substitue is filling in.

2.    Care should be taken when creating Webquests. Teachers should avoid busy work and make their activities meaningful.

3.    Choose a variety of sites that introduce students to many resources they could use in the future.

4.    Look for sites that are interactive and allow students learn by doing.

5.     Choose a variety of sites that will appeal to a variety of different learners in your classroom.

6.     Make sure that the sites are void of any inappropriate content.

7.  Make sure that you state the purpose of your Webquest and clearly explain to students why they are  doing this activity.

8.     They can be a great be a great activity to have students study for a test.

9.     Avoid questions where students can easily find answers without fully reading or exploring a site.

10. Make sure the Webquest has a logical order, where activities build upon each other.
